ARLP008 Propagation DE KT7H
QST DE W1AW
Propagation Forecast Bulletin 8 ARLP008
From Tad Cook, KT7H
Seattle, WA February 26, 1993
To All Radio Amateurs
The solar flux rose slightly over the past week, while flares and
coronal holes provided several disturbances. The most unsettled day
in North America was the 20th, when the Boulder A index reached 22.
Worldwide the worst day was the 22nd, when the Planetary A index was
30.
It is possible that we may experience more disturbances on February
27, and again on March 7. Look for the solar flux to rise slightly
toward a broad peak near 180 around March 4 through 10. Then it
should drop toward the next minimum of 110 around March 19 or 20.
This week's projection is for the path from the center of the United
States to Kingman Reef in the Pacific Ocean. 80 meters should be
open from 0430 to 1430 UTC, with the best conditions from 0530 to
1300 UTC. 40 meters should be best from 0330 to 1500 UTC. 30
meters should be open from 0230 to 1530 UTC, 20 meters from 0100 to
1500 UTC and 1630 to 1800 UTC, and 17 meters from 1600 to 0430 UTC.
15 meters should be best from 1630 to 0430 UTC, and 12 meters best
from 1700 to 0300 UTC, while 10 meters is best from 1700 to 0200
UTC.
Sunspot Numbers from February 18 to 24 were 134, 118, 118, 135, 142,
132 and 131, with a mean of 130. 10.7 cm flux was 126, 116, 123,
123, 133, 132 and 135, with a mean of 126.9.
